Park Explorer Half Day Bike and Boat Trip 

Our Half Day Park Explorer Tour proved to be a great success in 2025. We have expanded the offering to include a bike version of the trip for 2026!

This tour begins at Ross Castle at 10.30am every morning. Guests will have to rent bikes in Killarney town before making their way down to Ross Castle. Unfortunately we don't currently rent bikes but there are great rental shops in Killarney town such as:

Our boats depart at 10.30am from the front of Ross Castle every morning. The first stop is Innisfallen Island where guests will have time to view the 7th Century Monastic ruins. 

After departing Innisfallen, the boats will head towards the nearby mountain shore where our White Tailed Eagles have nested each year since their reintroduction in 2007. These Eagles are the biggest birds of prey in Europe and are an awesome sight to see in the wild. 

Once the boats have departed the Lower Lake via Brickeen Bridge, it'll be on to the Muckross Lake and drop off at the wonderful café at Dinis Cottage.

At Dinis Cottage, guests can view the Meeting of the Waters and enjoy a coffee before starting your cycle. 

The cycle is 18km (11 miles) in total from Dinis Cottage back to Killarney. The tour is very flat and suitable for younger cyclists.  The tour is along a main road with car traffic for roughly 1.5km (1 mile). For the rest of the cycle journey, guests will be cycling on a cycle and walking route through Killarney's National Park away from main roads.
