This is boat only transport from Ross Castle just outside Killarney to Lord Brandon's Cottage in the Gap of Dunloe. This option doesn't include a bus connection and would be suitable for guests that have their own transport. Guests that book this option would make their own way to Ross Castle in the morning. The boat would then meet your party and transport you to Lord Brandon's Cottage. Guests would make their own way through the Gap of Dunloe to Kate Kearney's Cottage and then back to Killarney. The boat tour is through the 3 lakes of Killarney's National Park and takes roughly 1.5-2hrs (depending on water levels and weather conditions). Guests would catch the boat at 10.30am only and would arrive to Lord Brandon's Cottage at roughly 12.30pm.
Unfortunately Lord Brandon's Cottage café is not open until mid March. There will be a seating area and restrooms available but guests will be required to bring their own packed lunch until then.
Please note: Horse & Carriage operators may charge full rate for children as seating is limited.
Upon leaving Ross Castle at 10am, our first stop is at the 6th Century Monastic settlement on Innisfallen Island. Guests will get a full history of the ruins and will have 15 minutes to explore this peaceful setting.
After departing Innisfallen, we make our way to the shore of Tomies Mountain (weather permitting) to hopefully catch a glimpse of our native White Tailed Eagles. These are the biggest birds of prey in Europe and are reintroduced here in 2007 after nearly 100 years of an absence.
Our tour continues through the remaining 2 lakes of Killarney, passing such historic sites as the Old Weir Bridge, Dinis Cottage and Lord Brandon's Cottage.
After the boat tour, guests make their own way through the Gap of Dunloe and back to Killarney from Kate Kearney's Cottage.
