This is a return boat trip from Ross Castle to Lord Brandon's Cottage near the Gap of Dunloe. This option would suit guests that would like to do the boat tour but a carriage ride or walking/cycling 11km wouldn't be suitable for them. This tour starts at 10.30am from Ross Castle and guests will have 2 hours to have lunch (not included in the price) and explore the Lord Brandon's Cottage area of the Black Valley. Boats leave Lord Brandon's Cottage at 2.15pm and return guests to Ross Castle for roughly 3.30pm depending on water levels and weather conditions. Parking is free at Ross Castle all day.
This return trip departs Ross Castle at 10.30am daily. Please check in 15 minutes before departure.
Our first stop along the route is a visit to Innisfallen Island for 15 minutes to view the 7th Century monastic ruins.
After departing Innisfallen Island, the boats had to the western shore of Lough Léin in hours of catching a glimpse of the resident White Tailed Eagles.
We continue to Dinis Cottage and the Meeting of the Waters where guests will have to disembark for a short walk through a wooded area. This is to allow the boats to traverse a particularly shallow area.
Upon leaving Dinis, the Long Range River is the next waterway we'll encounter. This has always been a great opportunity to see some of our elusive Red Deer.
Lord Brandon's Cottage is our destination and guests will have until 2.15pm to have lunch and go for a hike before returning by boat along the same route.
The boats depart from the stone pier on the lake side of the Castle, just ask for Rory and look for the green boats.

Please be advised that a walk of roughly 10 minutes through a wooded path may be part of the tour. This depends on water levels on the day.
Due to the remote location of Lord Brandon's Cottage, the Café only takes cash.
